A bridesmaid’s first look is a special moment that is often overlooked or completely unknown to a bride. A bride gets into her dress and ready away from her girls and then is brought in for a big reveal. All of the bridesmaids are turned around awaiting the bride and all at once they turn around and the perfect moment is captured. A joyful reaction from everyone filled with happy tears and giggles!
How do you plan a first look?
First things first, you’ll need to plan out a secure space to get ready away from your girls! I know what you’re thinking, “but I want to get ready WITH my girls”… trust me, this moment will be worth so much more than a couple hours getting ready. The look in their eyes when they see you all dressed says more than anything!
After you have a secure space, make sure that your girls have a comfortable room to get ready in as well! We don’t want our girls to be all cramped in and on top of each other trying to get ready!
Next, you will want to make sure you have at least 10 minutes stored away in your planning to coordinate and make this moment happen! You will want to plan accordingly! It does take a bit of time to get everyone lined up and situated and after they see you, everyone will want to give you a big hug, so make sure to have this time penciled in!
What can I expect from doing a first look?
Although I have not been a bride, I can say that this is one special moment that you don’t want to miss out on. You, a bride, are working up quite a bit of nerves. You are stepping into your dress and anxiety is starting to build up, you’re getting hit with a bunch of different emotions. Nervousness mixed with excitement and so much more…. But as soon as you see the faces of your favorite girls and the love that they have for you, all of the nerves leave your body. You feel so relieved being surrounded by so many people who love and support you! So much hugs, tears, and smiles to go around!
Doing a first look is also very comforting to those who are sensitive to loud noises. You can take your time getting ready in a comfortable, quiet place. I know bridesmaids running around looking for shoes, hair pins and makeup can be very overwhelming. So, being able to take the time you need to get ready without all of the noise may make you feel more at ease.
The take away!
A first look is a very special and memorable moment that a lot of brides miss out on. It’s an emotional moment for everyone and it relieves the nerves of your big day because you are completely reassured by your girls. I highly suggested making this happen in your wedding, it’s something you won’t forget!
